SIN Rooftop Bar is one of the most glamorous settings in all of Bangkok, perched on the 27th floor of the Avani+ Riverside Hotel, boasting stunning views of the Chao Phraya River. The vibe is intimate, classy and also fun - with red lighting, unique geometric structures and house music pumping until just after midnight. This rooftop bar is suitable for couples looking for a romantic date, or friends who want to start their night out in Bangkok in style.

The bar opens its doors at 5:00 PM, perfect for sunset drinks, and closes at 1:00 AM or sometimes later on the weekends. If you don’t want to pay the 5,000 THB minimum spend, which applies to the tables by the glass edge, you can always sit at the other tables or at the bar (like we did). That being said, ordering a few cocktails and small plates will hit that 5,000 THB mark pretty quickly. To be honest, it’s not the cheapest bar but if you’re going to splurge on just one special night out in Bangkok, this is a superb option.

What to Order at SIN Rooftop Bar

We arrived at 9:00 PM, and had dinner beforehand, so it was only the drinks menu that interested us. Cam ordered one of their Signature Cocktails called the Forbidden Nectar that consists of Kentucky Bourbon and adventurous ingredients like miso, caramel yoghurt and carrot. It was delicious but rich in flavor, which made him stick to mojitos afterwards. They even served us fresh cold towels with the drinks - a nice little touch.

SIN Rooftop Bar also has an extensive beer and fine wine menu, in addition to premium bites such as oysters, cured meats and cheeses, ceviche, sashimi, beef wagyu, pork belly, king crab, vegan tacos and a range of desserts. These are meant to be small plates and snacks, not full meals, paired with the cocktails. We enjoyed a few drinks sitting at one of the inner tables, before moving to the bar to get closer to the action.

The views of the Chao Phraya River are what make SIN Rooftop Bar special: you’ll see the river lit up at night, the glowing ferris wheel of Asiatique on the opposite bank and boats slowly cruising by. Even if you’re not sitting by the glass edge, you can still wander around and take photos as you please. We actually thought sitting at the bar had the best atmosphere - you can chat with the mixologists and other guests sitting beside you, see the DJs up close, and every now and then turn back and admire the view.

Is SIN Rooftop Bar Worth It?

SIN Rooftop Bar is definitely worth visiting in our opinion. Everything from the iconic red DJ booth to the cozy tables overlooking the river make it a phenomenal experience. The vibe starts off slow and super intimate, up until 10:00 PM and then people start pouring in and the music gets more uptempo. By midnight, everyone is mixing together, dancing a bit and having a great time. The only downside is that it’s pricey and probably not suitable for budget backpackers, with drinks going for 500-700 THB each.

It’s easy to confuse SIN Rooftop Bar with SEEN Restaurant, as it sits just a floor below. But both can be visited on the same outing if you’d like. An elevator takes you from the bottom of the building to the 26th floor (where SEEN is situated) and then you jump in another elevator up to the 27th floor (where SIN is located). The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seats, and upscale fusion cuisine which is ideal for families or large groups who want a proper sit-down meal before heading upstairs for a few drinks.

The Best Way to Get There

The best way to reach SIN is to take the BTS Silom Line to Saphan Taksin Station, and then head to Sathorn Pier and hop on the hotel’s free shuttle boat. Or another route is to take the BTS Gold Line to Charoen Nakhon Station (at ICONSIAM) and then jump in a quick taxi or Grab ride. Just keep in mind that the Bangkok traffic gets crazy at around 5:00 PM, so it’s better to avoid taxis at this time. Of course, if you’re staying at Avani+ Riverside, both the restaurant and rooftop bar are right on your doorstep.

Do I need to make a booking in advance?

Reservations aren’t strictly required for SIN Rooftop Bar but since it’s such a small venue (80 seats), it’s highly recommended. Like many rooftop bars in Bangkok, you’ll be given a 15 minute grace period to arrive after your time slot otherwise your table may be released. What’s the dress code for SIN Rooftop Bar?

You’ll be surprised to learn that the dress code for SIN is fairly relaxed compared to other rooftop bars in Bangkok. It’s advertised as “smart casual”, however they still let you wear shorts and flip-flops. Things that aren’t allowed, though, are hotel slippers and tank tops for men. To be safe, it’s probably best to dress well, including long dress pants and closed-toe shoes (for men). The luxury riverside setting calls for a nice outfit anyway.
