Maya Bay is definitely still worth visiting, however you should temper your expectations somewhat, as the experience has changed in recent years. We can only imagine what it would’ve been like back in the 90s, when you could pull up in a private longtail, swim in the emerald waters, and have one of Thailand’s most spectacular beaches pretty much all to yourself.

Railay Beach and Phra Nang Beach compliment each other beautifully. You don’t have to choose between them - both are easily visited on the same trip, as they’re connected together by a short walking path. Railay is the main hub of the peninsula where incredible rock climbing and spectacular sunsets await. And Phra Nang is the more pristine of the two, known for its white sand and epic views of limestone karsts.

Tiger Cave Temple, otherwise known as “Wat Tham Suea”, is the most famous and (arguably) most spectacular Buddhist temple in all of Krabi province. It’s situated inland from the coast, roughly 20 kilometers northeast of Ao Nang Beach, known for its golden Buddha statue at the top of a mountain - surrounded by limestone cliffs covered in jungle.

Koh Rok is nestled within Mu Ko Lanta National Park, and is made up of two tiny islands called Koh Rok Noi and Koh Rok Yai. Koh Haa, on the other hand, consists of five limestone islets surrounded by a turquoise lagoon - giving it the name “Five Islands”. Koh Haa is well known within diving circles, but it still remains a hidden gem for the average traveler/tourist.

Krabi is, undoubtedly, one of the best beach and island hubs in Thailand: known for its towering limestone karsts, powdery white sands, winding mangrove forests, and laidback adventurous spirit. This province in Southern Thailand covers a massive area, almost 5,000 km² to be exact, giving travelers access to beautiful destinations such as Railay, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Lanta, Hong Islands, and endless little corners of paradise.

Koh Lanta is a wonderfully laidback island in the Andaman Sea, situated just south of Krabi and east of Koh Phi Phi. Instead of the dramatic limestone karsts found on some of the neighbouring islands, here you’ll encounter a much more expansive landscape: wide open beaches, twisting mangroves, rolling hills draped in jungle, quiet fishing villages, and a rugged south where the wild edges of Mu Ko Lanta National Park begin.

People who say you should never visit touristy destinations have probably never been to Koh Phi Phi. It’s one of our favorite islands in Thailand, not because it’s untouched and off-the-beaten-track, but because of its intoxicating atmosphere. The twin-island archipelago combines spectacular natural beauty, loads of activities, and buzzing nightlife into one small but punchy package.
